Stevens Point Poetry Slam 2011

Drum roll please... The first annual Stevens Point Poetry Slam is scheduled and will be taking place on Friday, February 4th in the Belmont Room of Kristin's Riverwalk, downtown Stevens Point.
That's right poets, screamers, divas and heart throbs, the day is finally slated. If you're unfamiliar with Poetry Slams, let me give you a brief overview; Poetry slams are contests where people get to perform their work on an open mic in front of their friends and fellow enthusiasts. Slam Poetry can be almost anything, it doesn't have to be structured, it doesn't have to rhyme, it just has to sound GREAT when spoken and performed. The audience judges the poets either with applause or with a scorecard, and only the top performers advance to the later rounds. There is only one winner.
So if you think you've got what it takes, stop by and see us. Registration will be taken at the door, just come prepared to read at least three pieces. Hope to slam you there!
